The South African top flight will launch with extra drama, most noticeably in the Durban camps. AmaZulu, Richards Bay, and Royal AM all have unhappy players in their teams. In the first round of fixtures, their matches could be the main focus.

Outright winner bets can be placed on the following teams:

  • Royal AM vs. Cape Town City FC: bet on City to win with odds of 2.35.
  • Marumo Gallants FC vs. Kaizer Chiefs: The Soweto Giants are favourites with odds of 1.80 to win against last season’s relegated team, who made their way back to the top flight after buying financial strugglers Moroka Swallows.
  • Polokwane City is playing against AmaZulu FC: You could bet on the home team, Polokwane. They are facing a Durban team with internal issues, and their odds of winning are 2.75 currently.
  • Richards Bay vs. TS Galaxy: TS Galaxy is performing well this preseason. Betting on them to win against Richards Bay at odds of 2.10 is a decent shout.
  • Stellenbosch FC vs. Golden Arrows: Stellies will be looking to build on last season’s 20-game unbeaten run. They look firm favourites to take all the points with outright winning odds of 1.66.
  • Orlando Pirates play against Chippa United. A win for the Pirates at home seems likely. The odds are 1.55 for Pirates and 6.50 for Chippa. It’s a no-brainer!
  • Sekhukhune United vs. Magesi FC: Sekhukhune to win at odds of 1.55 could be your punt. The home side has only conceded three goals in their last five games, losing two of the five.

Creating a Bet-Builder on the seven games mentioned above, your odds will increase to 95.54 (at the time of posting this).

Special Bet Alert!! After you’ve finished reading, don’t forget to check out Sunbet’s special bet offers for this weekend’s football action.

There is the Away Days Bet and the Michael Owen Acca - Gameweek 4 bet. The former offers punters odds of 7.50 if Chiefs, Manchester United, and Arsenal all beat their opponents while playing away.

The latter bet has odds of 4.25 if you bet on Liverpool, Crystal Palace, Brighton, and Aston Villa all winning their respective fixtures.

South African Premiership In-Match Betting Tips

The weekend could hand us an early indication of who will be fighting for honours at the top of the table and who will be the bottom feeders in the South African Premiership. It could be a good time to check out the outright league winners' odds for the 2024/2025 season.

Other bets to look at are the goals scored, overs, and unders.

Below is a selection of games to look into over the first round of PSL fixtures:

  • Goals scored in both halves at 2.02 in the MGC against KAC fixture. Both teams have been scoring at will during the preseason, with a combined total of 10 goals scored and 13 goals conceded. A punt on goals in both halves sounds like a promising bet. An even more enticing punt is both teams to score and the Chiefs to win at odds of 4.75.
  • Pirates to score in both halves at odds of 2.80. The Sea Robbers have scored in all of their preseason friendlies and MTN 8 Cup matches but have not conceded in two of these fixtures. They have scored a goal in both halves in three of their last five games.
  • Goals in both halves at 1.87 and/or Stellenbosch to win and both teams to score at 4.30. Both are good soccer bets to place next Wednesday when Stellenbosch welcomes the Golden Arrows. Together, the two have amassed a total of 11 goals scored and 10 goals conceded in their prelim fixtures. It could be the highest-scoring game of the round.

That’s it for today’s South African Premiership best odds preview. For the first matchday in the PSL, we have over 700 markets to bet on. For a full list of soccer betting odds, head to the Sunbet Soccer Markets and start betting now!
